2011 Rsa Chase Form

Race OverviewTIME FOR RUPERT (nap), who might not have looked out of place in the Gold Cup line-up, has too much to recommend him to be jettisoned now by his legion of followers. He jumps well, had the class to finish a clear second to Big Buck's over hurdles 12 months ago, is unbeaten in two chase ventures here and the form of both those races has been advertised. The Giant Bolster will relish the return to 3m and could be interesting each-way at a big price.[Paul Johnson]

Wymott is one who has put his name into RSA Chase frame this season starting with a fantastic debut over fences, the Donald McCain Jnr horse confirmed his potential with a nice win at Bangor back in November and was cut across the board for the RSA Chase as a result. He followed that up with a workmanlike win down at Exeter in the Vote AP Novice Chase in December, he jumped well and hung on for the win despite idling in front on the run in. Wymott did enhance his claims for the Festival with a win in the £20 Punters Package 11th February Novcies Chase at Bangor last time out, he beat a good horse in Bouggler over 2 m 4f and seemed to improve the further they went making him a live RSA contender.

Former World Hurdle star Time For Rupert is one who has been aimed towards the RSA race all season after he won impressively on his chasing debut at the Open Meeting at Cheltenham back in November, he beat a good field over 2mile 4 furlongs and will relish the 3 mile trip of the RSA Chase. He proved that he enjoys the trip with another excellent win in the DRS Contracts Novices Chase at the International Meeting last time out, he jumped and travelled in style and his RSA claims were enhanced yet further as he continued his great record at Cheltenham.

There is no surprise to see Paul Nicholls with a major RSA Chase contender and in Aiteen Thirtythree he looks to have one on his hands, he jumped well at Newbury back in November to win the GPG Novices Chase and looked in nice sort. Nicholls waxed lyrical about him after the race and it is clear that the Champion Trainer has big hopes for him and the RSA Chase in particular. He Followed up with another win at the rescheduled Aon meeting again at Newbury last time out and he could trouble the leading fancies for this race at the festival.

Willie Mullins finally managed to get Mikael D'Haguenet on the course back in November after a long absence and he was cut in the RSA Chase Betting despite falling at the last in the Drinmore Novice Chase. He ran well and looked to be getting on top of Jessie's Dream when falling and seemed to have lost nothing in defeat. He has disappointed though since with a poor run in the Bord Na Mana Novice Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas. He was an odds-on favourite but never travelled well and jumped to the right throughout meaning he could only manage a poor 5th place with Realt Dubh the eventual winner, and Mikael D'haguenet could only manage a third place last time out when well backed in the Moriarty Chase at Leopardstown to see his price drift further.
