Catch Me finished third in the Ballymore Properties Novices Hurdle at the Cheltenham festival last year and O'Grady indicated that he thought he might have put him over a distance a bit to far as Catch Me had shown himself to be one of the best 2m novice hurdlers in Ireland last season. He stayed well enough in the race but could prove more effective at the minimum trip and it will be interesting to see where O'Grady sends him this season.
What was obvious to anyone watching on RTE is that O'Grady now has a very high regard for him and watch out for this one over the coming months.
O'Grady said: "I was hoping it would go like that, although I didn't think he was really 100% ready. "We'll go to Navan next and we could always step up in class, as he was unlucky in three Grade One races last year. But that was a good introduction. "In hindsight I might have run him in the wrong race at Cheltenham, I don't know if he got up the hill. I was so convinced Clopf was going to Plan A (Supreme Novices'). But hindsight is a wonderful thing."
