Kauto Star Horse Of the Year

Kauto Star is the horse of the year as voted by the readers of the Racing Post and he is well deserved winner having won all his races last year, including the Betfair Chase, King George and Gold Cup. By doing so he won his connections the £1 million bonus offered up by Betfair plus all the prize money from all the races he won so well.

Kauto Star, who was also named Outstanding Chaser, beat New Approach, Authorized, Dylan Thomas, Manduro and Voy Por Ustedes to win the main award at Thursday night's ceremony at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London.

Kauto Star misses the Tingle Creek this weekend in order to save himself for the King George late this month. Should he win again on Boxing day he will be attempting to win the Betfair bonus for a second year should he take the Cheltenham Gold Cup at the festival in March.

Kauto Star will have to beat stable mate Denman come the festival if he is to repeat what he did last year. One can see from the list of previous winners that it is only the very best that get awarded this honour is that you have to be top class. Previous winners include Ouija Board, Rock Of Gibraltar.
