Twist or Stick
All punters will be asking themselves the question Twist or Stick for Twist Magic in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at the festival following his emphatic victory in the Tingle Creek at the weekend. All week Paul Nicholls the trainer of Twist Magic was unsure if the ground would be suitable for his 5 year old, but we were left in no doubt that conditions were ok by his performance winning well from favourite Voy Por Ustedes. Nicholls explained on Racing UK that he is now a stronger horse and so could work him harder in recent months and this led to such a great display in the Tingle Creek.This was the third big race winning weekend for the Nicholls team, having won the Betfair Chase at Haydock, the Hennessy at Newbury and now the Tingle Creek. During the week, Nicholls contemplated running Kauto Star if the ground was to soft and even with all the rain he decided to let Twist Magic take his chance.
Betting patterns were all over the place before the Tingle Creek with Twist Magic available as big as 9/1 on Betfair and eventually went of the 5/1 third favourite. Twist magic has now deposed Voy Por Ustedes for the Queen Mother and is generally a 2/1 chance.
