The Listener Alner Tonic
The Listener the bold front running mud lark showed all his rivals in the John Durkin a clean pair of hoofs as he strode to victory at Punchestown on Sunday. Robert Alner recovering from a very serious accident would have been heartened by his horses performance with an all the way victory that was a joy to watch. Sent off the even money favourite and ridden by Daryl Jacob, he sent The Listener on from the starting flag and he was not headed during the race.The Listener loves the soft ground and should he get his conditions in the Cheltenham Gold Cup his current odds of up to 33/1 would be a really nice each way ante post bet. His jumping display in the John Durkin was in complete contrast to his first run of the season where he blundered the first two fences and unseated his rider at the second at Down Royal.
The Listener has a good jumping record and now that he is back on track he can only improve and show some of the top class form he displayed last season. He is bound to contest some of the very best races over the coming months and will probably go for the Lexus and Hennessy over the winter months in Ireland.
