Acambo Arkle Setback
The David Pipe trained Acambo who was looking to make a challenge in the betting market for the Arkle at the Cheltenham festival next March fell at Taunton in the St James's Place Chase. Acambo was looking as if he was having a fight on his hands going to the last as Russian Around came to take him on at the last, when they both came down. To be fair Acambo jumped really well if a bit to his left which would only be to his benefit at Cheltenham.It looked for all money that Acambo was going to win with his head in his chest as he went clear two out but Russian Around made another attempt to take him on at the last where all carnage took place. Peperoroni Pete bowed out at the first and it looked at that point that it was going to be a walk in the park for the 4/7 favourite.
PaddyPower gave a quote of 25/1 for the Arkle for Acambo in what continues to look to be one of the most open races at next years Cheltenham Festival. Other bookies are more cautious and in general he is a 14/1 chance.
