Boylesports Festival Highlights

The Boylesports festival had a number of highlights over the two days with Tamarinblue and Osana taking the honours in the big Boylesports sponsored races on the Saturday.

Daivid Pipe proved he was like his farther in bringing his horses to the track in great shape and with Tamarinblue he won the Boylesports Gold Cup. He has proved a most versatile performer both regarding trip and ground. A return to more positive tactics on his last run back in June reaped rich reward, a run which was not lost on the handicapper, who raised him 10lb, but only 3lb above his hurdle rating.

The addition of blinkers, which didn't help when he was held up, seem to have had an effect when he forces the pace and as such he could progress again – which he is going to have to after this impressive success. When he wound up the pace in the last mile, it forced rivals into a multitude of mistakes and he was not for beating from the home turn, although he was entitled to get tired on the run-in, which lessens his superiority.

David Pipe quickly followed up with Osana, who ran so well under top weight in the Greatwood last month in the mud, led them a merry dance and kept up the gallop. He jumped with accuracy and fluency from the front and,try as they might, the others could never really get to grips with him. Not surprisingly the bookmakers reacted by shortening the winner up dramatically for the hurdler's crown in March.
