Pouvior Quoted for Ladbroke World Hurdle
Relkeel Hurdle winner Pouvior was given a 20/1 quote by Ladbrokes for the World Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival following his classy win at the weekend. This race tends to throw up a potential star for the Ladbrokes World Hurdle but there is a doube if trainer Alan King will let him run in this race next March.The Relkeel can often be a tactical race and, with most of these taking a step into the unknown, there was a pedestrian pace early and with the lively ground the emphasis was not on stamina as much as it can be in this race. Threeof the first four had clashed at Haydock last time over 2m on easier ground and the placings were reversed here with Pouvior gaining revenge on Pigeon Island and Gwanako.
Pouvoir again travelled supremely well through the race and could be called the winner off the home turn as he cruised up to Gwanako and was only unleashed after the last. Driven right out, he proved too strong and maintains a progressive profile. The stable won this with Crystal D'Ainay at the same age and he went on to run third in the World Hurdle. However, connections intimated sticking to around this trip, and he certainly does not lack speed.
