Hobbs Hill Cheltenham Festival Dilemma
Hobbs Hill looks like a chaser, jumps like a chaser and you guessed it he just simply is a chaser with a future. In the BGC Noel Novices' Chase Grade 2 at Ascot at the Christmas meeting was so short in the betting that he could hardly be backed and this says a lot about just how impressive he is.While he faced a relatively simple task, he again jumped impeccably in the lead and, having briefly looked as if he might face a fight when the pace picked up and he was challenged by Battlecry four out, he was on top again straightening up and won in style, with Tony McCoy able to look around after the second-last and ease his mount down on the run-in.
He is a cracking good novice at around this distance on goodish ground, but is far from certain to stay the longer trip of the SunAlliance, so his trainer has a dilemma with him and is now also contemplating running him in the Ryanair instead if he goes to Cheltenham.
There maybe doubts about really soft ground but it's seldom like that at Cheltenham nowadays. It is expected that Sandown's Scilly Isles Novices' Chase, over 2 miles 3 furlongs maybe his next outing.
