Black Jack Rethink
The Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot has highlighted on thing and that must be that Jonjo O'Neill has to rethink what he should do with his star Hurdler. It would seem that he just does not stay after finishing 3rd behind Lough Derg and Hardy Eustace.Travelling well for most of the race Black Jack could make no impression up the straight and it just looked to the naked eye that he maybe does not stay, especially as the ground conditions should have been perfect.
The only other potential excuse that could be put up and that is that Jonjo's horses are not running at the best at the present and it could just be that. Should the Ladbroke World Hurdle be beyond the reserves of Black Jack then Jonjo will have to rethink what he should run him in come March at the Cheltenham Festival.
There are some that seem to think that he should be brought right back in distance and go for the Champion Hurdle as a fast run two miles over the stiff Cheltenham track maybe just what Black Jack needs.
