Franchoek Back on Top
Franchoek the Alan King trained hurdler has re-established himself as the Triumph Hurdle favourite with the majority of the online bookmakers following a very impressive display at Chepstow in the grade one Coral Future Champions Finale Juvenile Hurdle. This was his first run since his defeat at Cheltenham under a penalty by Irish hope Harper Valley.Franchoek benefited from being able to chase the strong pace set by the Its Moon, who only gave way at the top of the straight. Sticking to the inside of the course of the quartet, a flying leap two out sealed the race before both he and Tatenen walked through the last.
A typical Triumph Hurdle should suit Franchoek down to the ground and he has shown he handles different conditions and is a tough as his stablemate and last year's Cheltenham winner Katchit.
Spokesman for totesport Damian Walker said: “Franchoek beat a quality field and deserves his position at the head of our Triumph Hurdle market. We have promoted Harper Valley to 9-1 second favourite from 20-1 as he beat Franchoek at Cheltenham and we probably underrated that effort at the time.” Runner-up Tatenen is 12-1 from 33-1 for the Triumph.
