Tony McCoy Cheltenham Festival Participation in Doubt
Tony McCoy participation in this years Cheltenham Festival has to be in doubt following his horrible fall in the totesport.com Classic Chase yesterday. He was riding favourite Arnold Layne for Caroline Bailey and came crashing down on the final circuit. McCoy was immediately attended to at the scene before being lifted into an ambulance on a stretcher. He was then taken to hospital to be assessed and a spokeswoman said this evening: “He’s stable. He’s conscious and talking.“He’s still being assessed and looked at, but he is conscious and talking. “When we asked him if we could give out a condition check he said ‘tell them I’m OK’. “But as yet we are not quite sure what his injuries are.”
By McCoy's own admission he claims that due to the massive amount of rides he gets every year that he is going to come off a least 50 times in a season and it is in the hands of the gods how he comes out of these falls..
There is no braver jockey on the circuit as whenever he has a chance he will shove his horses into the fences to give his horse the best chance of winning. Only last Friday we saw McCoy at his very best lifting Adare Prince over the line at Huntington.
