Noland Should be Arkle Bound
Noland should be Arkle bound according to his trainer Paul Nicholls but maybe not so if you had read yesterdays papers with the talk about a rift in the camp between Trainer and Owner. Noland spoke on the track and this should have resolved matters, returning from over 600 days off the track he was very impressive in the Folkestone Beginners' Chase. He jumped with aplomb and was clever when getting close to just a couple of the fences. He looked to be idling when going clear out of the back straight and was kept up to his work, but had the race won from that point.Noland is 8-1 joint favourite from 12-1 with totesport for the Arkle Chase following an impressive debut over fences at Folkestone today. Spokesman Damian Walker said: “Noland was brilliant at some of his jumps and also clever when he got in too close. This was an impressive debut over fences and were impressed enough to cut his odds to 8-1 from 12-1 for the Arkle. “Assistant trainer Dan Skelton suggested that he may be kept to two miles and it seems as though he will go to Cheltenham provided he gets the necessary experience prior to the Festival, with the Kingmaker Novice Chase at Warwick mentioned as a likely next objective.”
