Kauto Star Seems Fine after Injury Scare

Kauto Star seems fine after injury scare following his victory in the First Commercial Chase at Ascot on Saturday. There were big concerns after the race when he was being loaded up in his box after the race when he came up lame. When he returned to the yard and his shoe was taken off, it waw seen that he had some puss on his foot and when this was burst he seemed fine. Kauto Star outclassed his eight rivals in the Ascot Chase after a near faultless round of jumping and the hugely anticipated clash with stablemate Denman at the very top of his form and with his confidence sky high look back on.

His victory was very impressive with the manner in which he scored, for in a race in which Fair Along set a fierce pace and soon had them all well strung out, he was perfectly placed throughout, jumping cleanly and economically. Kauto Star took it up approaching three out and turned for home three or four lengths clear before extending his advantage over the last two fences, where there was no hint of the blemishes that have marred even some of his very best performances in the past. He won comfortably, if not easily, and the form looks rock solid, for with the exception of a couple of the outsiders they finished in pretty much the order the figures suggested they should, most of them beaten even further than one might have anticipated.

Paul Nicholls said that while he had left a bit to work on, Kauto Star was fitter here than when he struggled in the Aon last year, and fitter than Denman was a week ago. The Gold Cup is going to be a race for all of us to look forward to.
