Dear Villez Backed for Jewson

The Paul Nicholls trained Dear Villez has been subject of recent support for the Jewson Handicap Chase following the weight assigned to him of 10 stone 6 pounds. Nicholls has said about Dear Villez that "One I am quite sweet on is a horse that has not run for some time Dear Villez in the Jewson. He would have to have a chance as he is fresh and not too exposed." As usual the online bookies have taken note as he has been installed as the 13/2 favourite for the race, as Nicholls aims to continue his great form this season into the Cheltenham festival week.

Dear Villez last run was in the bravohair Novices Chase at Newbury at the end of December and this run suggests that he looks to be progressing as he builds his experience of jumping fences. In this race he was not put under any pressure in leading but measured his fences well throughout, although he had to be strongly driven from the second-last to maintain the advantage. While he continues to win on soft ground, he has plenty of good form on livelier ground so remains a leading contender for the Jewson Novice Handicap Chase at Cheltenham which is likely to be on better ground

This was his second win of the campaign having beaten Mughas at Plumpton also in December.
