River Liane Backed For Fred Winter
River Liane is the most recent horse to be backed for the Fred Winter Hurdle after his impressive victory in the Madigans Hurdle at Leopardstown at the weekend. River Liane is now the 5/1 favourite for the feature handicap on the first day of the festival. His trainer Thomas Cooper could not have been more impressed and he has a really nice horse to go to Cheltenham with, as he beat some very useful horses easily.
This was River Liane's hurdling debut in Ireland and it was a performance of real class. Davy Russel sat him in mid-division for the first half of the race and cruised up to track the leaders and once he cleared the second-last, he went away quickening without being asked any sort of a question and won in the style of a very good horse. With a penalty for the race, he gets into the Fred Winter at Cheltenham with 10st 6lb on his back and all going well that’s where he goes.
