Grand National Surpases Cheltenham Gold Cup

The Grand National surpasses the Cheltenham Gold Cup not just in term of betting, but also in terms of interest and intrigue. The Grand National sees the entire nation wanting to have a bet on the horses, where as the Cheltenham Gold Cup is more for the established racing punter. In some respects it can be compared to the twenty20 cricket which appeals to anyone and everyone, where as test matches are mainly enjoyed by the real cricket fans.

On the 5th April the online bookmakers will be over run with people looking to open an account and have a Grand National bet, many for the first time. This is a great thing for the Horse Racing industry and it is important for Aintree to put on a great show. The viewing audience is usually treated to an action packed afternoon of build up and emotion.

Everyone wants to try and pick the Grand National winner, but there are always the side plots, such as will Tony McCoy ride his first Grand National winner? Will Donald McCain son of the famous Ginger McCain train the winner this year in favourite Cloudy Lane? and go in some way to matching his father's success with the famous Red Rum a Grand National legend.

These are just some of the questions that will be the focus of media attention over the next 10 days and come late afternoon on the 5th we will have the answer to these questions, but no doubt whatever the outcome there will be a story that will make this great race even richer in heritage, that is the joy of this fantastic race.
