Fallon for Festival

Kieran Fallon the recently appointed Ballydoyle recruit, gets a plum ride at the festival in the Bumper. It has always being a dream of Kieran to ride at the festival and now he gets two dream call ups in a month. Kieran has been granted a licence which will enable him to ride in the Weatherby’s Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival next week. The six-time champion Flat jockey is expected to ride the Jonjo O’Neill-trained Refinement, who runs in the colours of Michael Tabor. Fallon was recently snapped up by the Coolmore team to ride all horses owned by Tabor, John Magnier and Derrick Smith after Jamie Spencer sensationally quit the lucrative job. Irishman Fallon successfully applied to the Jockey Club for a jumps licence that will restrict him to riding in National Hunt Flat races. Spencer plans to ride the Martin Pipe-trained Buena Vista in next Wednesday’s closing event against Refinement, who Coral have cut to 8-1 from 12s.
