The Grand National Pricewise is Bewleys Berry who unseated in last years National and is Tom Segal's selection at 14/1. Bewleys Berry finished second to Mr Pointment in the Becher Chase earlier this season which demonstrates that he can jump these fences and get round as he did not fare so well in last years National where he jumped really well until he fell at Becher's.
He is a horse that like to be in the front rank and these tactics generally do well around Aintree and the ground is now on his side. Pricewise also tips up Cloudy Lane who has drifted this morning in the betting and is generally available at 6/1. It was thought earlier in the week that he would start one of the shortest priced favourites of the National at around 9/2 but there has been money for Simon, Comply or Die, Bewleys Berry and Chelsea Harbour also a Pricewise selection.
On the morning line John Francome was not confident that Cloudy Lane would jump round these fences. He also indicated that the ground was very tiring and that there would only be around 15 finishers.| Cloudy Lane Grand National Drifter | 05 Apr 2008 |
