Paddy Power Gold Cup Betting

The Paddy Power Gold Cup weights have come out with the Nicky Richards-trained Monet’s Garden on 11st 12lb and is a 33/1 chance with Paddy Power heading the weights for the race on Saturday, November 15. Paul Nicholls will have a strong hand with favourite Silverburn a 4/1 chance is set to carry 10st 7lb as Nicholls bids for a first victory in the contest.

He also has Noland (11st 9lb) and Oslot (11st 6lb & 16/1), successful in this year’s Galway Plate, near the top of the handicap. The champion trainer could also run Grade One Ryanair Chase third Turko (11st 4lb & 16/1), Nozic (11st 3lb & 20/1) and Predateur (9st 13lb & 20/1) who was runner up in the Grade Two Utopia Group "Dipper" Novices' Chase in January.

Nick Williams is hoping that Maljimar (10st 3lb) can continue his good form at Cheltenham. The eight-year-old, currently a 9/1 chance with Paddy Power, gained the biggest success of his career on his last visit to Prestbury Park when beating Burntoakboy by 11 lengths in the Grade Three betchronicle.com Trophy Chase Handicap on Festival Trials Day, January 26.

Nicky Henderson is also ready to mount a strong challenge with Jack The Giant (11st 1lb & 9/1), who finished third in the 2007 Grade One Irish Independent Arkle Challenge Trophy Chase, among his four entries. The master of Seven Barrows, successful in the Paddy Power Gold Cup with Fondmort in 2003, could be represented by Listed Jewson Novices' Handicap Chase second and fourth, one of the best-backed horses in the race Barbers Shop (10st 6lb & 13/2 from 7/1) and Fleet Street (10st 3lb & 20/1), as well as Boomshakalaka (9st 9lb & 50/1).

The lightly-raced Imperial Commander (10st 3lb & 9/1 from 10/1), who won the Steel Plate And Sections Novices' Chase at The Open last year and is another who has come in for good support, could make his first start for 11 months and trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies may be represented by Patman Du Charmil (10st 1lb & 20/1), Tramantano (9st 13lb & 20/1) and Mahogany Blaze (10st 8lb & 14/1), who chased home Ashley Brook (11st 5lb including a 5lb penalty & 14/1 from 25/1) in a Grade Two contest at Exeter yesterday.

Other notable entries for the Paddy Power Gold Cup include last season’s Listed Jewson Novices' Handicap Chase winner Finger Onthe Pulse (11st & 12/1), J P McManus’ sole entry Don’t Push It (10st 13lb & 12/1), the Willie Mullins-trained Scotsirish (10st 13lb & 16/1) and the Alan King-trained Ouzbeck (11st 3lb & 9/1), who was a convincing winner of the Dick Francis "Silks" Handicap Chase at The Showcase.
