Imperial Commander Well Weighted for Boylesports

Imperial Commander is still well weighted for the Boylesports Gold Cup which is the Cheltenham feature for the two day festival next week. He will carry 10st 6lb and is currently the 3/1 favourite with Boylesports after his most impressive win of the Paddy Power Gold Cup at The Open on November 15. He could attempt to become only the fourth horse to land the two Cheltenham contests in the same season following on from Pegwell Bay (1988), Senor El Betrutti (1997) and Exotic Dancer (2006). His trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies could also run Battlecry (10st) and Patman Du Charmil (9st 2lb).Content

The Boylesports.com Gold Cup forms part of a superb seven-race card at Cheltenham on Saturday, December 13. The card also features the £200,000 Boylesports.com International (3.05pm), the third richest hurdle race in Britain and Ireland and a leading trial for the Smurfit Kappa Champion Hurdle.

Friday’s highlight is the £100,000 Listed Boylesports.com Cashback Chase (1.55pm) over an extended three miles, one furlong. The competitive seven-race card also includes the Glenfarclas Cross Country Steeplechase (1.20pm) and the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle (12.45pm) over three miles, a qualifier for the Pertemps Hurdle Final at The Festival in March.
