The Jonjo O'Neill trained, Can't Buy Time went off as favourite for this National Hunt Chase Challenge Cup. The race which is in its 139th year was once the most presitigious race at the Cheltenham Festival.
A field of 19 runners took off over the 4 mile course but it was the Nigel Twiston-Davies chaser, Tricky Trickster, ridden by Sam Waley-Cohen, who prevailed at the end in very impressive style to win by 10 lengths from the Irish raider, Drumconvis.
Can't Buy Time, who was held up at the back of the field for much of the race began to launch his challenge on the final circuit. At one stage he looked every bit the winner but he seemed to run out of gas with two fences to go. He finished fourth in the end after losing third spot to Nine De Sivola on the run in.
