A second day of breathtaking racing at the 2009 Cheltenham Festival witnessed several outstanding performances. These included back to back Queen Mother Champion Chase victories for the imperious Master Minded, a spectacular win in the Ballymore Novices Hurdle for Mikael D'Haguenet, an equally spectacular win for Cooldine in the RSA Chase and in the Champion Bumper, Dunguib became its most impressive ever winner since the race's inception. These three horses will surely become major players again at this most fantastic Festival
Perhaps the biggest accolade of the day however should go to jockey, Ruby Walsh who secured a treble and has taken the lead in the Jockey's championship with four wins. Walsh won on Mikael D'Haguenet, then Cooldine before rounding off a perfect day when guiding Master Minded to a decisive victory in the Champion Chase.
Top Irish trainer Willie Mullins scored twice (Mikael D'Haguenet and Cooldine), bringing his Festival tally to three, his wins have helped Irish trained horses take an 8-5 lead at the halfway point of the Festival.
There were also wins for the Nigel Twiston-Davies trained, Tricky Trickster in the National Hunt Chase, Silk Affair, trained by Mick Quinlan in the Fred Winter Juvenile Hurdle.
