Hurricane Fly produced one of the performances of the year when winning the Punchestown Champion Novice Hurdle on April 28th. Ridden superbly as usualy by Ruby Walsh, Hurricane Fly tracked the leaders throughout the race and was already to pounce.
Two fences out he seemed to be slightly trapped behind the the leaders, but Walsh quickly forced himself through a gap and simply ran away with the race in blistering style.
The win had an immediate effect on the betting for the 2010 Champion Hurdle, where he has taken over from Binocular at the head of the antepost market. He is currently best priced at 4/1, with Binocular at 13/2 and 2009 Champion, Punjabi, at 12/1.
Willie Mullins who trains Hurricane Fly has confirmed that he will not risk running him on the flat this year and will concentrate on the Champion Hurdle. He intends to put him away now until the Autumn.
