As we move into the third day of the 2010 Cheltenham Festival the attention is turning to Big Buck's who is bidding for a second straight win in the World Hurdle this afternoon. He will go into the race as a huge odds-on favourite but punters will be hoping he doesn't go the same way as Master Minded and Dunguib already have this week. We have already seen two big odds-on favourites go down this week but Big Buck's is many peoples banker of the week and is expected to have too much for the field as he did in 2009.
The Paul Nicholls trained horse won in fine style last season when beating Punchestowns with a gritty effort and his form this season has only served to enhance his reputation. He has won both of his two starts this season with consummate ease and on that form looks difficult to oppose which is a fact reflected in the current World Hurdle Odds. If there is one horse who looks capable of capitalizing should Big Buck's have an off day then it is Tidal Bay who is another who has been improving with each run. The horse is from the same yard as the great Inglis Drever and he will be hoping to emulate the three-time World Hurdle winner with his first victory in the race. He has been in good form so far this campaign having won last time out at Cheltenham at the end of January and has to be taken seriously on that form when he took care of Time For Rupert.
There looks to be some great each/way value further down the betting for the World Hurdle for those punters looking for a bit of a higher return. One that will attract a lot of attention is War Of Attrition who is will go for Mouse Morris as he embarks on the final leg of his illustrious career. War Of Attrition won the Gold Cup at the Cheltenham Festival back in 2006 and there would be no more popular winner than him if he was to get up today. He has come back to some good form this season and has to have a good each/way chance despite perhaps not having quite enough to claim a famous victory. Another to keep an eye on at good value is the former Champion Hurdle winner Katchit who loves it around Cheltenham at this time of year. His connections have stepped him up to the World Hurdle distance but he has form here after winning the Champion Hurdle and should have good each/way claims. The World Hurdle has become a big race in recent years and now forms the feature on Day 3 of the Festival, this year we find it hard to look past Big Buck's and Ruby Walsh once again as he goes for his second successive victory in the race.
