Kauto Star and Moscow Flyer Impress in Workouts

Kauto Star impressed trainer Paul Nicholls in a pre-Cheltenham workout at Exeter over the weekend with big-race jockey Ruby Walsh in the saddle and Barry Geraghty meanwhile rode Moscow Flyer in a gallop at Leopardstown. Kuato Star was accompanied by stablemate Le Passing, who was ridden by Liam Heard, Kauto Star jumped eight fences and galloped over a mile and six furlongs on his first taste of racecourse action since winning the Tingle Creek Chase last December..

Nicholls enthused over the workout saying: “He jumped great and worked really well and Ruby and I were very pleased with him as it was just what he needed.

“It was his first visit to a racecourse for a while and, although he has done plenty of work at home, it will have put him spot on for Cheltenham a week on Wednesday.”

Nicholls had intended to run Kauto Star in the Game Spirit Chase at Newbury last month but that plan was thwarted by the weather as the meeting was abandoned due to frost.

Kauto Star has been favourite for the Festival two-mile chase championship since scoring at Sandown and isgenerally 2-1 market leader for the race with most firms, although Stan James are as big as 9-4.
