Argento Chase The Feature On Hot Looking Cheltenham Trials Day

This weekend sees the final meeting of the season at Cheltenham before the Festival and as Trials Day it is also one of the most important weekends of the year. It gives trainers one last chance to run their Festival hopefuls at Prestbury Park before the big meeting in March. The Argento Chase has acted as a decent Gold cup trial for the past few years and there are a number of potential Festival stars taking their chance on Saturday. The most interesting runner and favourite for the Argento is Grands Crus who will be stepping up in company for the very first time. The David Pipe trained grey is still a novice over fences but he has impressed so much that connections are eager to test him in tougher company. A good run from Grands Crus this weekend could well see him head to the Gold Cup while it is still possible we will see him stick down the Novice route with the RSA Chase at the Festival.

Another key race on Cheltenham Trials Day is the Cleeve Hurdle which will give punters plenty of clues ahead of the World Hurdle in March. The star attraction will be the great Big Bucks who is going for his 15th straight win over hurdles for Paul Nicholls and connections. The horse is already a three time Festival winner and based on his form this season it's hard to see him coming unstuck either in the Cleeve or at the Festival itself in 2012. Perhaps the most interesting race this weekend will be the JCB Triumph Hurdle Trial which sees a number of the favourites for the Festival race set to take each other on. The well fancied Grumeti, Baby Mix and Sadler's Risk are all set to meet with Festival punters set to be watching on closely. The race will be crucial form ahead of the Festival as we see three potential stars of the future clashing in one of the most hotly anticipated races of the season. Trials Day is always a popular one with punters and this year's card is looking particularly exciting with a fantastic card taking centre stage at Prestbury Park.
