National Hunt Handicap Chase
As with many races featuring a huge field at Cheltenham, the National Hunt Handicap Chase often provides a shock result. Looking at past winning trends offer little help in looking at the form and over the last seven runnings of this race the favourite in the betting has failed to justify his position as the betting market leader each and every time.| Cheltenham Festival Odds - Tuesday March 11th 2008 | ||

With the horses running over three miles in this event stamina is obviously the key characteristic to look for in your selection and as always try to look for a horse that can act on the going that day. With so many entrants in this race each-way betting is the obvious attraction and about the best advice we can offer when looking at the Cheltenham Form.
The penultimate race of the first day is the new Cross Country Chase.

23 runners went to post for the William Hill handicap with Little Brick the ante post favourite a big drifter in the market. The field bunched up down the back straight with Little Brick making a bad error and being pulled up. Coming to the last Distant Thunder, Juveigneur and Joes Edge all went for the line together with a great finish with Joes Edge just getting up on the line by a short head.1. Watching Ruby on this fast improving horse Dun Doire was watching a master class in National Hunt race riding. A horse that needs extreme distances Dun Doire was out the back until coming down the hill on the final circuit and flew up the famous Cheltenham Racecourse Hill and this kept up his winning sequence. He jumps well and if he gets into the National he could run a big race at Aintree.1. Dun Doire (R Walsh) 7-1
2. Juveigneur (MA Fitzgerald) 16-1
3. Irish Hussar (M Foley) 66-1
4. Model Son (P Merrigan) 14-1

The French raider Kelami has being most progressive in the months leading up to the Cheltenham Festival and confirmed his well being by getting the better of Keen Leader up the Cheltenham Hill. A lot has being talked about the runner up and all his best form had being on flat tracks, but it seems he is best fresh.1. Kelami (R Thornton) 8/1
2. Keen Leader (BJ Geraghty) 28/1
3. Irish Hussar (M Fitzgerald) 33/1
4. Chives (D Elsworth) 50/1

The JP McManus owned Youlneverwalkalone clinched the 2003 Cheltenham National Hunt Handicap Chase in nail bitting fashion, hanging on under pressure to win the event by less than one length. He had entered the final turn looking full of running and only a great show of determination was able to beat off the challenge of Haut Cercy. Without a mistake by Haut Cercy four fences from home it could have easily been a different story. Ad Hoc took third place for the second successive season.National Hunt Handicap 2003 Results
The Grey Fork Lightning put up a very decent performance for a novice to win, particularly as he lacks the extensive hurdling experience of many first-season chasers - this was only his 12th race.Shardam has been running into form after hurting himself in the Hennessy and kept on well to make the winner pull out all the stops.
