We only had six go to post for the Arkle Chase this season but the anticipation was sky high as Sprinter Sacre went off a hot odds on favourite for Nicky Henderson and Barry Geraghty. The early pace came from Cue Card which was no surprise while Al Ferof and Sprinter Sacre were also handy in the early stages. Barry Geraghty had favourite Sprinter Sacre in third place over the first mile and looked to be travelling well for punters.
Al Ferof was happy to take up the running at the top of the hill but after a big mistake at one of the fences, it was Sprinter Sacre ho was left in front and cruising in front coming onto the straight. Barry Geraghty was motionless on board Sprinter Sacre coming to the last and with only Cue Card anywhere near him he cruised up the hill to win in memorable fashion. Al Ferof was out of the race after his blunder and Cue Card must be given plenty of credit but in truth there was only one horse in the race in the form of the exciting Sprinter Sacre.
