The next race on the card was the exciting Byrne Group Plate and as always it looked like a tough handicap for punters to pick over with Beautiful Sound the money horse before the off for in form trainer Gordon Elliott. The early pace setter was Amigale who was joined by Bible Lord over the first few fences, but Beautiful Sound was out the back with the field stretched out more than he would like.
At the top of the hill it was Amigale and Gansey who were fighting out for the lead with a number of horses ready to challenge in behind. Holmwood Legend was the one that came out of the pack to take the lead and the Patrick Rodford horse held on over the last from a game Amigale who set the pace throughout the race. Beautiful Sound came through late to make up plenty of ground to finish third but he was some way behind Holmwood Legend who gave a small yard a massive boost with a Cheltenham win.
