The Pulteney Land Investment Novices Handicap Chase was the final race on the card on day 1 and the likes of Hunt Ball, Tiolo DAlene and Bless The Wings all fighting for favouritism before the off. We had 20 runners going to post and the early pace was set by Cucumber Run who set a strong gallop through the first half of the race with That'll Do an early faller for Ruby Walsh.
Cucumber Run continued to lead past the stands and into the final lap and he was allowed to have a pretty big lead. Vino Griego was also travelling well at the top of the hill but he remained three lengths behind Cucumber Run out front. Vino Griego took over the lead with Hunt Ball racing well in behind him three out. It was Hunt Ball who came to the last in front and he put the race to bed in a matter of strides to win the race off of top weight to continue his remarkable season. White Star Line ran well to claim second while Owen Glendower stayed on well to claim third place but Hunt Ball was far too good for the field.
