The final race on the card on day 2 was the Champion Bumper and as always it looked to be a difficult one for punters to pick over with a number of horses being backed with some top class Irish and British raiders taking their chance. They were all hoping to follow in the hoof steps of Dunguib and Cue Card who were both sensational winners of the race over the past few years before going onto bigger and better things. As the tapes went up the early leader was The Tracey Shuffle as they went a strong gallop over the first mile with the field tightly packed together.

At the top of the hill there were four main contenders with Destroyer Deployed, Aupcharlie, Cheltenian and Cinders and Ashes all travelling well and looking strong. In the end it was the aptly named Cheltenian who simply stormed up the hill to leave Destroyer Deployed back in second and he could be a star of the future. The likes of Ericht, Divine Rhapsody and Knights Pass who were all well backed were nowhere to be seen to prove the unpredictable nature of the Champion Bumper.
