The final race on the card was the always interesting Champion Bumper and all the talk before the off surrounded New Year's Eve who was the mount of Barry Geraghty. We had 20 runners in the field for a race which is notoriously difficult for punters with Horatio Hornblower and Moscow Mannon setting the early pace at the front while Champagne Fever was also being ridden handily.
As they came to the top of the hill it was Champagne Fever who continued to hold the advantage but plenty of runners were packed in behind him and lookign ready to pounce. The first to challenge the leader was New Years Eve while Pique Sous also loomed up dangerously. In the end though neither of them could get past Champagne Fever who stayed on dourly with a front running performance from the jockey to give Willie Mullins a good win.
