The Gold Cup is the feature race of the entire Cheltenham Festival 2012 and it brings to the fore the best chaser in Europe and it is run over three miles, two furlongs of the Cheltenham Racecourse.
Paul Nicholls has been the man to beat in the race with Denman and Kauto Star in his stable but along with 2010 winner Imperial Commander, they appear to be past their best with a new breed of chasers now in the Gold Cup betting for 2012.
The 2012 Odds are already starting to shape up with Long Run the fancied horse, Kauto Star should also not be ruled out after his big run in the race in 2011. The new kid on the block is Long Run who hacked up in the King George at Kempton last season before winning the Gold Cup in some style and he will be the one to beat again 2012.

It is thought that Nicholls will keep the two market leader apart for the best part of the season with each horse attempting different path to the showdown in March. We shall keep you updated on their progress as the season unfolds.
This is one race that everyone will have their own views on and we hope that our man Tom Lee will be of some assistance for those who are sitting on the fence come race day.
