The penultimate race of the Cheltenham Festival was the Conditional Jockeys Hurdle and there were some nice types taking their chance with the Willie Mullins trained Sir Des Champs the talking horse before the off. The early pace was set by Barizan who was clearly keen to get on with things and was galloping freely with the field tightly packed in behind him in the early stages and that remained the case as they went onto the second and final circuit.
Barizan still led at the top of the hill with a number of contenders packed in behind him ready to strike and one that came to the fore was Son of Flicka and all of a sudden Sir Des Champs was staying on well on the inside off the final hurdle. Son Of Flicka was still someway clear up the hill but it was Sir Des Champs who simply bolted up to claim the winner on the line and give Willie Mullins yet another big winner at the Festival and he could be a star next season.
