The Coral Cup went to tape with a huge 27 runners in an open race according to the bookies but it was The Polomoche who went off as favourite. It was Lough Derg who led early on but he soon drifted back towards the pack and started to fade.
Over the last fence it was a sprint with three horses in contention and it was a question of who would stay the best. The answer to that question was Ninetieth Minute who ran brilliantly up the hill to come in half a length ahead of Mirage Dore. Pause and Clause came in third ahead Star of Angels in fourth.
Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle (2m 5f)
1. Ninetienth Minute (Paddy Flood) 14-1
2. Mirage Dore (Mrs R Dobbin) 14-1
3. Pause and Clause (Jack Doyle) 9-1
4. Star of Angels (H Frost) 40-1
