Wonderkid was backed down to 5/2 favourite. They set off at a steady pace for this 3 mile 7 furlong race. Ivoire de Beaulieu took them along from Never Compromise and Bosham Mill in third

The principles in the race were happy to take there time early on with little change going into the second circuit. Royal Auclair began to make progress, while Kilbeggan Blade made an error.

Mistakes began to creep into the jumping as the horses began to tire, but Ivoire de Beaulieu continued to lead from Royal Auclair who bagan to make ground and the favourite was not making any impression on the leaders but right on cue the Enda Bolger Garde Champetre took it up into the home straight and went away to win easily with all in the frame horses coming from Ireland.
