Cross Country Handicap Chase

The Cross Country Handicap set off with 16 runners and it was Lami who set off as favourite ahead of last year's winner Garde Champetre. A confusing maze of 32 fences faced the horses and it was Puntal who set the early pace but he quickly dropped back through the pack.

This race became a duel between the two favourites and they were the only horses in with a chance with two out. It looked initially that Lami would triumph but it was Garde Champetre who was the stronger up the hill and he was the victor by a good distance.
