Cross Country Handicap Chase

The next race on the card was the unique and fascinating Cross Country Chase on the infield, Scotsirish was the one for money before the off with last year's winner Sizing Australia also being backed. We had 16 runners going to post for this long race and early on we saw the likes of Balthazar King and Midnight Haze towards the front of the field. Wedger Pardy was the one who then took it on through the middle part of the race with Scotsirish lost from the race in the early stages to the delight of the bookmakers.

Wedger Pardy continued to lead the field into the closing stages of the race with Sizing Australia and Balthazar King looking dangerous just in behind him and travelling well. As they came onto the home straight it was Balthazar King who was in the lead with A New Story staying on well up the hill despite his age. In the end it was Balthazar King who was all out to claim a tight win from A New Story who ran a blinding race at the age of 14. Balthazar gave the British their first ever win the Cross Country race.
