The amateur Gold Cup was the next race on the card with the Foxhunters Chase looking as exciting as ever. We had a field of 22 for the race with the likes of Cloudy Lane and Chapoturgeon being backed to run well before the off and the pair were fighting for favouritism. The amateur jockeys went off fast and among the early leaders were Roulez Cool and Picaroon who were both keen to get to the front as soon as possible. Enter Paradise was an early faller.
As they came into the second circuit it was Picaroon who was some way clear of the field with the likes of turko and a number of others a good few lengths back. Picaroon remained a long way clear at the top of the hill and it remained to be seen whether he would have enough stamina to hold on. The field quickly started to come back to the leader and it was My Flora who hit the front with three left to jump. Oscar Delta was right there as well and he took the lead with two left as Chapoturgeon started to stay on with Salisfy. It was those two who battled it out up the hill with the game Salisfy hanging on to claim an excellent win for Ireland in an incident packed race.
