St Pirran had promised plenty in his younger days and looks set to deliver on that now, judged on this fine effort. He benefited from the strong pace, settled in rear by Ruby Walsh, making headway through the field in very smooth style, and leading after 2 out for a decisive success. He had fallen last time but jumped well here - after plenty of work at home reportedly - and is one to keep on the right side in 2m handicap company. As too is Ground Ball, who has progressed throughout the season and lost little caste in defeat, failing only narrowly to give weight to an improving winner.
