The Jewson Novice Chase was a brand new edition to the Cheltenham Festival in 2011 and it will be run over the 2 miles 4 furlongs distance and is Grade 2 listed. It is an excellent new race to the week at Cheltenham and it will attract plenty of class horses as it falls between the 2 mile Arkle Challenge trip and the 3 mile RSA Chase distance. This will ensure a high quality field with plenty of horses falling in between those trips whilst it should also maintain the quality of both the Arkle and RSA Chase fields.
The field at this stage is looking strong and we should see all the major yards having a strong hand in this one as expected. It will be the 27th race of the Festival and will be the first race on World Hurdle day on thursday, it should be a great way to get the action underway for punters and gives the whole week a big boost in 2011. The Jewson Novice Chase Odds are already starting to hot up and there is plenty of value on offer for shrewd punters at this stage.
Jewson have been a loyal sponsor at the Cheltenham Festival and this new race sees their name transferred from the old Jewson Novices Handicap Chase, which will now be run under the banner of the Centenary Novices Chase on Tuesday at the Festival.
2012 Sir Des Champs (D Russell) 3/1
