Jewson Novices Handicap Results

Formerly the Jewson Novices Handicap, this race has been renamed and moved from Thursday to Tuesday.

20 went down to the post for the first race on the card for the third day of the 2010 Cheltenham Festival with a number of runners being supported. The favourite at the off though was Rivaliste with Ruby Walsh on board but it looked a wide open betting heat. The early leader was Gansey who looked to be happy to take the field along at a good clip around the first circuit as the field looked to be well strung out.

The favourites were all happy to bide their time as they came into the home straight as Fiendish Flame was the first to make a move for home with Other Mix trying to go with him. It was Copper Bleu who joined Other Mix at the front as they went over the last and the two fought it out up the hill with both looking tired. It was Copper Bleu who stayed on the better though with Richard Johnson on board to beat the grey Other Mix into second place in a thrilling finish.
