This race attracts horses that find 2 miles too sharp and an extended 3 miles too far. It is for the entrants who will find the Arkle Chase or Royal & Sun Alliance Chase a little hot for them. There will be the additional benefit of encouraging Novice horses away from the Grand Annual and Mildmay of Flete Handicaps. These races which are the pinnacle of the season for seasoned handicappers are often won by unexposed Novices who utilise their ratings to the full.
There will undoubtedly be a large field going to post for this handicap and there shall be a very active betting market once the Jewson Chase runners are declared. When the online bookies put up their odds we shall have our odds comparison table available for your perusal.

Following last years winner Finger onthe Pulse as a guide we shall review the Paddy Fitzpatrick Memorial Novice Chase at Leopardstown in January as a form guide for the Cheltenham Jewson Chase. Finger onthe Pulse was thrashed by a horse called Glencove Marina and had he been fit he would have been a very interesting runner in whatever race he ran in at Cheltenham Festival.
