Ladbrokes World Hurdle Form

Pertemps Final Handicap Hurdle

There is nothing like form over course and distance and that it has been proved time and time again with the likes of Baracouda and Inglis Drever, that the winner of this race can come back and repeat their success and so Big Bucks is the odds on favourite for the race this year. The Paul Nicholls horse has won the race in some style for the past three years and is looking like the one to beat once again in 2012.

We have been following all of the main trial races for the World Hurdle with the likes of the Cleeve Hurdle and the Long Distance Hurdle just two of the races that have given us some excellent form pointers ahead of the Festival.

David Pipe has unleashed another potential World Hurdle stay in Dynaste and he could be one horse to take on the brilliant Big Bucks. The grey simply hosed up to win the Betfair Handicap Hurdle at Haydock as he liked and it is worth noting that stablemate Grands Crus won this race last season. Pipe threw him in with Big Bucks next time in the Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot but after leading for most of the race he blew up to fade into fourth place with Big Bucks claiming an easy win.

The Nicky Henderson trained horse Oscar Whisky has made his seasonal debut at Ascot in the Coral Hurdle and he could prove to be a World Hurdle contender. However things did not go to plan as he fell at the final hurdle to leave Overturn to take the win, Oscar Whisky was giving away eight pounds to his rival but he did like he was going to get up and he has to be taken seriously against Big Bucks. Oscar Whisky made up for it next time out though when he won the Relkeel Hurdle at the International Meeting at Cheltenham, he was too good for the field and connections are still to decide where he goes at the Festival.

Oscar Whisky continued his excellent form this season with a win in the Cheltenham & Three Counties hurdle at Cheltenham on New Years Day to confirm his class. The Nicky Henderson horse was hardly off the bridle in winning the race and while 2m 4f still looks his best trip he could still go to Cheltenham to take on Big Bucks.

Paul Nicholls has given the great Big Bucks his first run of the season and the three time World Hurdle winner hacked up at Newbury in the Long Distance Hurdle. Ruby Walsh never got serious on board the horse and he looks better than ever as we head towards another Cheltenham Festival. Walsh and Big Bucks had to work a little harder last time out when he won the Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot to secure a 14th consecutive success. The Paul Nicholls simply stayed on the best to wear down Dynaste and win with plenty to spare with Five Dream  staying on well to finish second.

Big Bucks has had a run at Cheltenham in the Cleeve Hurdle over the course and distance of the World Hurdle and he once again proved too good to record his 15th straight win. Tom Scudamore on board Dynaste breifly had Big Bucks at it but Ruby Walsh was able to cruise to another win on board Big Bucks to see his World Hurdle price trimmed.

Willie Mullins has said that the massively talented So Young is likely to head to the World Hurdle at Cheltenham after a number of impressive wins this season. So far the horse has won three times with the latest coming at Navan in the Follow Navan on Facebook Hurdle over two miles. Connections are convinced he will be better over further and while the Champion Hurdle has not been ruled out, the World Hurdle is more likely at this stage.

Mikael D'Haguenet is a former Cheltenham Festival winner and looks to be back to somehwere near his best this season ahead of a possible World Hurdle tilt. Willie Mullins is pleased with him and he has scored on three successive occasions this campaign with the most recent win coming at Fairyhouse. Connections are still to decide whether to run him against stable mate Hurricane Fly in the Champion Hurdle or step up to three miles where he is unproven. He hasnt beaten much this season but he is still a class act and will be an interesting contender at the Festival which ever route he takes.

Yet another Willie Mullins horse with World Hurdle credentials is Zaidpour who is another classy horse who is at home at anywhere between two and three miles. He has has picked up three consecutive wins this season with the Galmoy Hurdle win over Voler La Vedette perhaps the highlight last time out. Will be a major threat if the ground comes up soft at Cheltenham and looks one to watch if he runs.
