The National Hunt Steeple Chase went to tape with 19 runners and it was the Jonjo O Neill trained Cant Buy Time that set off as the favourite for this race which involves the amateur jockeys. It was Pangbourne who was happy to take up the running early on while the main contenders sat in the pack.
Pangbourne quickly disappeared when the pace picked up and it was Tricky Trickster who emerged as the front runner coming to the last. Cant Buy Time and Drumconvis looked as though they were in good shape but they were unable to catch Tricky Trickster as he found some more energy from somewhere up the hill when it mattered. Cant Buy Time tied up badly and was pipped by Nine De Sivola for 3rd place.
