The first race on day two of the Festival was the excellent National Hunt Chase over four miles and 19 runners went to post with Teaforthree the favourite. The early pace was set by the likes of Four Commanders and Lively Baron who were being ridden handily in the four mile chase. There was a decent enough pace through the early stages as expected with no fallers through the first mile or two of the oldest race of the Festival. Soll and Allee Garde fell on the second circuit.
As they headed out into the final circuit it was Four Commanders and Teaforthree who were at the front of the field but most were on contention with the field tightly packed together. Any number of runners were in contention at the top of the hill Teaforthree and Four Commanders still travelling well along with a number of other horses. Four Commanders and Teaforthree jumped together at the last and it was Teaforthree who kicked on up the hill to complete a fine front running performance. Four Commanders ran a blinder as did Harry The Viking who stayed on well to claim a minor place in the first race of the day.
