The Pertemps Final lined up with 22 runners and the favourite going to post was Ballydub who had received strong support just before the race. It was Mister Gloss who set the pace in the early stages of the race at reasonably steady gallop but he was nowhere to be seen at the finish.
It was Kayf Aramis who took up the runnin on the home straight and Buena Vista went with him. Kayf Aramis stayed and travelled really well after the last and Buena Vista was not able to match Kayf Aramis up the hill. Pennick finished really well up and was a good third place ahead of The Sliotar.
