National Hunt Steeple Chase

The RSA Chase had been one of the most highly anticipated races of the season with Time For Rupert all the rage for most of the season and all eyes were on the Paul Webber horse as the tapes went up on the 3 mile Novice Chase. The early pacesetters were Aiteen Thirtythree for Paul Nicholls Elysian Rock and while Time For Rupert was being held up at the back of the field with punters watching closely on. As they set out on the final circuit it was the rank outsider Elysian Rock who was in the lead but all the main contenders were packed in behind him.

As they came to the top of the hill it was Quel Esprit who was the first to go for home and he looked to be travelling well before taking a crashing fall to leave Jessies Dream and Bostons Angel fighting it out for the win. In the end it was Bostons Angel who just had too much for his Irish rival Jessies Dream while Wayward Prince stayed on well to claim a third place but Bostons Angel claimed the win. Time for Rupert was never travelling throughout the race and although he battled on well he was in with a chance and the ground may have gone against him to leave the bookmakers joyous.
