The next race on the card was the grade 1 Ryanair Chase with Poquelin going into the race as the favourite all there was also money for the likes of Kalahari King and Albertas Run who won the race last season. The one who set the pace early on was Albertas Run but the field were tightly packed over the first few fences, Rubi Light and Gauvain were two more than were being ridden prominently over the first circuit.
The whole field were in contention at the top of the hill with Albertas Run, Rubi Light and JY Vole all looking in good contention and Kalahari King starting to stay on from the back. Albertas Run came to the last in front with plenty in behind him and he duly stayed on up the hill to claim a third win at the Cheltenham Festival. It was a great ride from McCoy and although Kalahari King stayed on well he left his challenge too late and was unable to catch Albertas Run who seems to love it at Cheltenham.
14:40 Ryanair Chase (Registered As The Festival Trophy Chase) (Grade 1) (Class 1, 2m 5f)
1. Albertas Run (A P McCoy) 6/1
2. Kalahari King (G Lee) 7/1
