Patsy Hall was the gamble of the race for the Tony Martin stable. As usual Ollie Magern set the pace, from Lankawi and An Accordion. Flying Enterprise fell at the seventh. Going out into the country nothing much changed, but they were begining to bunch up with Patsy Hall coming their looking very good. An Accordion and L'Ami and New Alco all were there at the last with Patsy Hall fading. An Accordion was just the stronger and went on in the final 200 yards.
1. An Accordion (T Scudamore) 7/1
2. New Alco (D Russell) 10/1
3. L'Ami (A.P. McCoy) 11/2 FAV
